Zero Valent Solutions uses elemental iron to reduce or remove water-borne target chemicals that create costly and time-consuming compliance issues. ZVI is a strong reducing agent able to reduce the following (but not limited to) ions:
- Arsenic (As), as arsenate or arsenite
- Chromium (Cr), as chromate
- Nickel (Ni), as Ni(II)
- Lead (Pb), as Pb (II)
- Phosphorous (P), as phosphate
- Mercury (Hg), as mercuric
- Thallium (Tl), as Thallous or thallic
- Selenium (Se), as selenite or selenite
- Cobalt (Co), as Co (II)
- Copper (Cu), as Cu(II)
- Cadmium (Cd), as Cd(II)
- Aluminum (Al)
- Antimony (Sb)
- Molybdenum (Mo)
- Tin (Sn)
- Uranium (U)
- Zinc (Zn)
ZVI is also capable of reductive dehalogenation of halogenated hydrocarbons such as TCE and perchlorate.
